Great Basin Brewing Company Wins International Beer Award

RENO, Nev. (April. 28, 2014) – When Great Basin Brewing Company entered its Outlaw Milk Stout into the 2014 World Beer Cup®, they knew they were up against some fierce global competition. This year alone there were 4,754 beers entered into the competition from 58 countries around the world. Despite those numbers, when the dust settled and the judges handed out the awards, Great Basin was honored with a Silver Award in the Sweet Stout category for their rich and dark brew.

Remarkably, this isn’t unfamiliar territory for Great Basin. This is the third time that Outlaw Milk Stout has won a Silver Award for Sweet Stouts at the World Beer Cup® since 2008, winning every time that it has been entered. In fact, since 2002 Great Basin has brought home a total of 7 World Beer Cup awards for their various brews.

“Any brewery in the world would be thrilled to win just one World Beer Cup award,” owner and brewmaster Tom Young said. “Here at Great Basin, we’ve been honored to win a total of 7 of them since 2002, with Outlaw leading the way with 3 wins by itself.”

Great Basin’s success hasn’t clouded their vision of brewing excellence however. “We’re going to keep doing what we love – brewing world-class brews that craft beer drinkers around the region have come to expect from us,” said Young.

Outlaw Milk Stout is available now in 6-packs from fine beer stores across Nevada and in California, from Mono County to Roseville and on up to the Oregon border.
